I was asked today why I don't mind gay people. It wasn't an accusing question, just someone honestly asking why I don't mind just like some people do. It was actually an amazingly hard question for me to answer because I nearly replied with the same rote explanations people toss out left and right. Absolutely I believe in equal rights, I don't think homosexuality is any sort of deformity or social aberration, much less a moral damnation. However, in the end I realized I just didn't give a damn.

It's not that I support 'The Gay Community', because being gay doesn't matter. I support people honestly loving each other. If you can take a photo of people and see the genuine happiness in their faces because their in each other's company, does it matter if they're gay, straight, black, white, married, single, dating, just met, family, best friends, or co-workers? There is too much hate and plastic relationships of all sorts that I love seeing honest to God happiness. Who am I to care if a woman stays single her whole life and has a sperm donor baby because she feels utterly fulfilled with her family and friends? I've met a threesome who absolutely could not function without each other - none of the common jealousy people assume follows the sort of relationship. I don't think either of those are for me - I'm utterly traditional in my preferences for a husband and then kids and there are people who think I'm giving in to the male driven world for feeling that way. I don't appreciate their scorn because I believe there's nothing wrong with me wanting that.

 I also know I don't appreciate it when I'm happy and people give me and my best friend dirty looks because they think we're lesbians. The only reason we're not is that sexually, chicks just don't do it for me. What if that were different? Would anything about me really be different? Would I enjoy writing less? Would zombie movies still be my guilty pleasure? Would I still have two parents and two sisters? I am me and sexual preference seems to be as important as choosing a vibrator. There are three or four different basic types and once you've found the general category you prefer, the rest of it's being nit-picky. Sex is sex. It's a little naughty, it's a lot nice, and it's a important part of life, but just like we don't get ostracized for picking a bullet over a jack rabbit, it seems silly to me to care about your sex unless it's causing you or someone else emotional or physical pain.

So, through all the disorganized thoughts I've kinda thrown on the table at random, the point is I don't support 'alternative relationships' (Which is a silly way to refer to them considering they've been around as long as everything else, but, whatever, in the name of clarity I'll continue), I support strong, healthy, happy, relationships, no matter what the arrangement because that's what is important.

I wish people would stop getting tied up in labels and just let everyone LIVE.

 In all fandoms, slashers and het-nazi alike band together to fight one thing: Mary Sues. It's important to realize why they won't die. Obviously, we mere mortals can not kill She-ra or else He-man would kick our soft little asses, like every male character that comes in contact with her. Except the bad guy. Usually. Sometimes. And there *slaps pointer to the bottom center of icon* is Seifer's hand holding the hand-holdy part of Hyperion, which *drags pointer straight up* Leads to the shiny parts of the gunblade itself. And, because he's pretentious, he's on a big cosmic background.
 It's Teh CRABMAN! He's a character on 'My Name is Earl' and, well, besides being awesome, it's a good icon. For, well, many things. Have a good day by doing nothing? Fan outside. Have a strange day where you felt like you achieved nothing? Fan outside. Have a generally awesome day that was good and sweet and happy instead of filled with stabbing people in the fluttery awesome cape way? Crabman.

God, I really need to get on top of this 'posting' thing on IJ. There's no DC fandom over here, so I'm like *whistles and twiddles thumbs*. I really should eventually get to those NTP prompts, because they were fun and like, my first attempt at tons of fandoms.
